Committee and director effectiveness modules

Get more out of your board and director evaluations

If you want to get more out of your board evaluation you can add a Committee and/or Director Effectiveness Module to the end of your board survey. These modules are a big value add as they only take respondents around five minutes each to complete but enable a well-designed scorecard to be provided to each Committee and/or director.

Committee Effectiveness Module

Most boards don’t want an extensive review of their board committees but they do like to receive a scorecard in relation to the effectiveness of each Committee. This is why Insync designed a simple Committee Effectiveness Module (also known as a Committee Assessment Module) that can be added to the end of your Board Effectiveness Survey.

The Committee Effectiveness Module has four survey items in relation to each committee as well as an area for suggestions for improvement in each committee, all on one extra webpage. Once the survey is completed the Chair is provided with a Committee Effectiveness Scorecard that they can share with the Board and discuss with each committee chair.

The Committee Effectiveness Module is included as an optional extra with the Board Effectiveness Survey you buy online from our Board Benchmarking division or can be part of your independent externally facilitated board evaluation conducted by Insync.

Insync also caters for boards that want a more detailed review of one or more committees. Insync has a benchmarked Audit and Risk Committee Survey, separate Audit Committee and Risk Committee Surveys and other committee surveys that form the basis for a very effective evidence-based review of those committees. The reviews can be done in conjunction with interviews of committee members and with management who attend those committee meetings.

Director Effectiveness Module

Many boards conduct a separate Director Effectiveness Survey (also known as a Director Assessment Survey or a Director Peer Assessment Survey) at the same time as they conduct their board evaluation. Others prefer a lite touch approach so they include a Director Effectiveness Module at the end of their Board Effectiveness Survey and provide each director with their own Director Effectiveness Scorecard.

The Director Effectiveness Module has three survey items in relation to each director as well as an area for suggestions for improvement for each director, all on one extra webpage. Once the survey is completed the Chair is provided with a Director Effectiveness Scorecard that they can discuss with and provide to each director.

The Director Effectiveness Module is included as an optional extra with the Board Effectiveness Survey you buy online from our Board Benchmarking division or can be part of your independent externally facilitated board evaluation conducted by Insync.
