Unlocking the potential of virtual health care: The success story of Tasmanian Health Service’s COVID@homeplus program

The COVID-19 pandemic forced healthcare providers to rapidly adopt telehealth solutions. However, the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) stands out with its innovative COVID@homeplus program.

84% would highly recommend the COVID@homeplus service to others.

This nurse-led program offers safe and effective in-home health care via telehealth technology for vulnerable patients with COVID-19 or other respiratory illnesses. What’s more impressive is that they have achieved consistently high patient experience scores since the program’s commencement in December 2021.

93.4 overall patient experience mean score, and 11.1 increase since January 2022.

The program’s success lies in its staff members’ strengths and their ability to interact with patients with respect and dignity, provide ample opportunities to ask questions, and show deep respect for cultural, racial, and religious needs.

In this case study, we spoke with COVID@homeplus Nursing Director, Trudi Steedman and Nurse Unit Manager, Jane Palfreyman, to learn more about their approach to virtual care and the secrets behind their success. Download the case study to find out how they achieved their outstanding outcomes.
